1) Western Medical Acupuncture (WMA)
WMA utilizes an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture but employs the most contemporary knowledge of evidence based medicine involving anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology.
Acupuncture into targeted anatomical structures exerts neurophysiological therapeutic effects by stimulating the nervous system which in turn result in releasing neuropeptides (calcitonin gene related peptide), increasing local blood flow, spinal cord and brain effects by releasing opioid peptides and serotonin (pain and stress relieving neurotransmitters).
2) Traditional Medical Acupuncture (TCM or TKM)
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific 670 points of the body to achieve a certain therapeutic effect, regulating the body energy through the specific meridians which correspond to the major organ system.
3) Dry needling
Dry needling involves performing up and down manipulation of acupuncture needles to provoke twitch response of muscles in sore points (often referred to trigger points). Identification of "contraction knot" within taut muscle is the key for the successful dry needling and our experienced practitioners are specialized in palpation of contraction knot.
